Process Engineer

The Process Engineer is responsible for initiating and managing operational excellence (continuous improvement) and capital projects.  This position will be located at the ABX production site and reports directly to the Director of Technology and Continuous Improvement.

• Promotes a safety culture by leading by example and performing detailed hazard risk assessments with the site teams.  Supports safety improvement and innovation projects. 
• Initiates and manages continuous improvement and capital projects to drive value in quality, yield, material, and operational costs.  Projects are strategic and can be large and complex in scope.  Multiple projects must be managed concurrently.
• Analyzes production and financial data in coordination with operations leadership to identify high-value opportunities.  Develops clear plans of action with results expected and detailed schedules.  Provides regular updates and communicates frequently with all stakeholders.
• Directs and coordinates operational excellence activities and capital project management at production sites with the site teams and leadership.  Contractor coordination is required.
• Explores new manufacturing technologies and equipment and investigates their potential application in ABX.
• Working Conditions: Office and manufacturing environment with controlled and non-controlled temperatures. Frequent travel to multiple sites in region is required.

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical engineering or equivalent degree.  Relevant experience in the manufacturing and/or packaging sciences may be considered. 
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in process engineering and/or continuous improvement, preferably in a packaging manufacturing environment.
• Strong technical and job knowledge in printing and lamination production processes.  Experience in blown and cast film, slitting, converting, and bag making is a plus.
• Knowledgeable in machine reliability and OEE (overall equipment effectiveness).  Preventative/predictive maintenance and total productive maintenance is a plus.
• Proven project management experience in both capital and continuous improvement projects.
• Automation and data acquisition/integration experience is a plus
